And then, just like that…

...it was fall

Labour Day weekend is that last bastion of summer fun before work starts in earnest.

When I was a child, the long days of summer seemed to span a lifetime of possibilities. Now July and August fly by in a blur. Telltale signs of autumn are all around. The air has become cooler and more crisp; the days shorter. Fireweed’s bloom has turned from lilac to wine. A faint tinge of gold touches the leaves.

It was a good summer. A full summer.

Family birthdays & beach parties; a stream of company that afforded us the chance to play “tourist” in our own backyard, taking in waterfalls and Alaska Highway landmarks; music festivals and a couple of golf games. I read a few books, caught up on some projects, and even got my new driveway. What could be better?

After a week-long teacher’s conference in Kelowna, I spent Labour Day weekend with my grandkids, attended a birthday, and watched football. What could be better?

So here’s to another summer well spent!

New driveway!!! Best gift ever. Did you do concrete or asphalt?

Neither. It is compressed gravel – not fancy, but what we can currently afford and MUCH better than mud!
