Two New Stage Plays!

from Big Dog Plays

Yes! Two brand new plays released last week – just in time for High School Drama season! (They make fun reading, too!)

SNOW WHITE & THE DWARVES’ REVENGE is brand new while DOROTHY’S ROAD TRIP is in its second edition! Both are published by Big Dog Plays!

“Snow White” is the last play I produced during my time as a drama teacher. It was so fun to write and direct since it is FULL of surprises. (Not kidding. Nothing and NO ONE is who you think!)

In contrast, “Dorothy” was one of the first plays I wrote as a high school drama teacher. (Not THE first, but close!) As I said, it was first published by JAC Publishing in 2012 and has now been picked up by Big Dog. Woot!

Here is more about each play including where you can purchase your copy!

Snow White and The Dwarves’ Revenge

COMEDY/MURDER-MYSTERY. Expect the unexpected in this comical whodunit, where all the fairytale characters are not who they seem. On the run from the Queen, Snow White hides out at the Seven Dwarves’ cottage. But after Snow White arrives, the Dwarves begin to drop dead one by one. It’s up to Prince Charming to find the killer before Cinderella cancels the royal wedding. Suspects include a lurking “ghost,” a witch out for revenge, and even some of the dwarves themselves! Audiences will love all the twists and turns, red herrings, diabolical plots, and mistaken identities. Perfect for teen actors and easy to stage.

Purchase through Big Dog.

Dorothy’s Road Trip

COMEDY. Inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. After Dorothy and Toto crash-land in Munchkinland, the Police Chief tries to arrest Dorothy for “flying” without a license, but she is heralded as a hero by the Mayor for landing on the Wicked Witch of the East. Eager to return home, Dorothy journeys to the Emerald City to seek the assistance of the Great and Terrible Wizard of Oz. When Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion reach the Wizard’s palace and finally meet the Wizard, he calls the Scarecrow “nothing but a poor excuse for a crow’s nest,” the Tin Man an “overgrown tea kettle,” and deems the Lion “the most pathetic yet.” After suffering the Wizard’s insults, Dorothy and her friends are tasked with journeying to the Wicked Witch’s castle to steal her magic wand and bring it back to the Wizard. Bored with turning princes into frogs and visiting torture chambers, the Wicked Witch and her bumbling minion, Watson, are happy to “host” the new arrivals. Easy to stage and perfect for teen actors.

Purchase through Big Dog.

Haha! Well, it was fun to produce. Sid story: the year of that production is the year I also had a heart attack, but my substitute took the play on with gusto and I was able to attend the opening night.
