Reflecting On What It Means to “Dwell”

As my last post this year, I wanted to reflect on the direction and “Word” I had chosen for 2024.

There were many factors to choosing this word including resting in what God has already shown me over the years and just allowing my relationship with Him to grow and mature. Another inspiration was something a dear friend had said to me near the end of 2023 which really resonated in my heart. She said, “The work has been done; the foundation has been laid. All that is required now is to sit in God’s presence and let His glory fall.” I love how the word DWELL implies I don’t need to strive, worry, or “do more”. The foundation is laid! We just need to wait upon the Lord and let Him do the rest.

For the most part, I feel as if God has honoured this word this season. In last week’s post I mentioned some health issues both my husband and I experienced over the year while we were still also pastoring, renovating, and doing other things. In many ways, we had no other choice but to “Dwell” with Him and let Him do what he was doing.

You can read the entire post here: DWELL for 2024.

As it happens, my friend Elizabeth visited us this summer and again for the Christmas holidays. Once again, she shared with us some very encouraging words of wisdom which fit exactly with what I had been praying about for the new year of 2025. Basically, it is time to move forward, to walk in God’s GLORY, and in the power of His Holy Spirit. And the word I had already chosen? EMPOWERMENT!

I love how God often brings this kind of confirmation! More on EMPOWERMENT in my first post for 2025.
