Thanksgiving Acrostic

It was Thanksgiving in Canada this past weekend. In my quest to write more regularly, here is a Thanksgiving acrostic.

T – Turkey. Yes, I do love turkey, even the leftovers! (Especially the leftovers!) I was privileged to cook our family Thanksgiving meal this year. We had 20 people around the table. What a blessing.

H – Hope for the future. Even though life can be full of pain and sorrow, there is still HOPE for tomorrow. First, there’s the hope we have in Jesus, but I also have hope that joy will truly return and that I will feel inspired and happy again.

A – Answers to prayer – even in my darkest hours. God always answers prayer. Sometimes it’s YES, sometimes its NO, and sometimes its WAIT.

N – Neighbours, Friends, and Family! I am thankful for all the connections I’ve made through my life, past and present. I am blessed to have a wonderful relationship with all my siblings. Plus, I’ve moved a lot, so I know a lot of folks! Add to that, the friends I’ve made through work, online platforms, writing, and church organizations. I am blessed to know and care for such a variety of people.

K – Kids. I count myself fortunate to have been blessed with four children–three daughters and one son. One dear daughter moved on to paradise much too soon for my liking, but the rest of them and their families live within an hour and a half.

S – Salvation. What a wonderful gift. And it’s free thanks to Jesus’ blood shed on that cross.

G – Grandchildren! I have eleven ranging in age from 1 to 13. My quiver is full, and I am blessed. (I even have one that starts with the letter G! Plus two starting with ‘I’, which I could have used below…)

I – InScribe. I already mentioned friends, but it bears repeating. (And I needed a word that starts with ‘I’!) I’ve been part of this writing community since 2010. I’ve found encouragement, friendship, purpose and more.

V – Vision. I was born legally blind, actually went blind for a few months in my forties, and have had multiple eye surgeries to correct all the anomalies that have followed me around my whole life. (Among other things, Ectopia Lentis if you want to look that one up!)) I am grateful that I have been able to live such a full life with few restrictions, despite my eye issues.

I – Inspiration. It’s slowly returning. I find myself thinking about potential stories and characters every once in a while. The return of inspiration is a gift I do not take for granted.

N – New Testament and Old Testament. In other words, the WORD. Where would I be without it?

G – Good health. I’ve had a few issues. (Heart attack and bypass surgery, anyone?) But these days I am enjoying relatively good health. PTL.

What are you thankful for?
