Best Blog Posts

of 2023

I blog every Monday, pretty much without fail, so that’s about 50 posts altogether in 2023! As 2023 draws to a close I realized there are only two Mondays left before another year rolls around. I’m going to take Monday, December 25 “off”, which leaves today’s post as the final one for the year.

I thought it would be a good opportunity to look back at some of the highlights from this past year and choose a few “best blog posts” to share.

Hands down, my three-part series on Crystal Lake was the most popular if comments and views mean anything. Crystal Lake, Saskatchewan holds a very special place in my heart for many reasons, which you can read about in these posts. A Crystal Lake Story Part One (early years at the golf course, getting married, first baby…!); A Crystal Lake Story Part Two (Renovations, a beached whale, and two sprained ankles…); and A Crystal Lake Story Part Three (moving the monstrosity and moving on….) So many good memories at that little pond in the middle of nowhere!

While the Crystal Lake series may have been the most popular, there were many other personal milestones and happenings that I blogged about in 2023. My community was evacuated due to wildfires, a very scary and uncertain event that I blogged about in a post called “Evacuated.”  2023 was also the six-year mark since my heart attack and bypass surgery – a milestone for sure, plus fifteen years since we moved to Tumbler Ridge.

As we continued to renovate our home, I had a chance to reflect on that process a few times, too, in “Renovation Boosts Morale” and “One Year Ago”.

I highlighted certain special holidays such as Passover and Rosh HaShanah during the year. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day also made the cut, as did the entire month of July, since it’s our family “birthday” month.

I had the chance to feature lots of books including books by artist Darcy Jackson published by my imprint: A Lovely Little Inspirational BookThank You Jesus Series, the In Christ Series, and The GIFT.  I also posted a few reviews of books I’d read such as KP Rogers’ amazing books: “Behind the Smile and A Silk Rose Never Dies”. (Both powerful and important books.)

As for my own writing, 2023 was an amazing year for me in terms of Audiobooks. To date, twenty-nine titles have been converted into Audiobooks by Apple Books! (And more are in process!) I blogged about it a few times, but you can just visit the Audiobooks page for details! I also featured some of my other books and new releases such as the rerelease of The Western Tale, the “refreshed” The Alien Next Door, and too many more to list or link to here. I think I shared some interesting backstories though as well as bits and pieces of the writing process.

Finally, words of wisdom are always top of my list of things to blog about. (Not necessarily mine!) A few highlights include “Restorative Wellness”, “Prayer Changes Everything”, “Words of Wisdom Steve Bell Style“, “Postured Hearts – Reflections on Truth and Reconciliation”, and “Sensible Advice For Trying Times” from a keynote by Phil Hills.

Obviously, I don’t expect you to read each and every one of the suggestions I’ve listed, but in case something piques your interest or you missed a post along the way, I invite you to take a gander back across the pages of my blog this past year.

Until 2024…

May God bless you richly!

Brilliant post reflecting on your 50 posts from 2023. I love your Crystal Lake posts like so many others and I look forward to seeing what you chose to share in 2024.
